Every new begins with now
Gps, global positioning system works like this; to get you to where you are going, it must first figure out where you are. Then it analyzes the area and offers various routes to get you to your destination. If you’re like me, you’re usually running late and will usually take the shortest one possible. But if you just happen to go off course GPS works like this, it will take a minute and decide a new way to get you back on the right road, it will redirect you. GPS is a lifesaver.
Recently a friend and I were at work and we wanted to get lunch, we weren’t familiar with the area so we set out loaded and confident with GPS in hand. We listened to the instruction as it told us when to turn right, when to turn left and when to continue straight ahead. But while the GPS kept us on a road to somewhere it was not able to do one thing. It saw there had recently been a new development in this particular town and while the road remains the same, the direction in which you can travel on them changed.
So with my destination on the left, there was a sign in front of me saying one way (right), and my GPS saying take a left. Sure I waited until the road was clear made a break for it and took a left to my destination. But I realized something, new developments bring changes, it brings new instructions, and new directions, and if I am not aware of where I am, getting to my destination will be more difficult than it ever had to be.
NOW – at present or moment.
This new year was extra special for most of us. It was not just the beginning of a new year, it was the beginning of a new decade, and we assigned expectations, resolutions, and desires to the 366 days that the year entails. But if we are going to get to them, we must first let God get to us here, now, at this present moment.
Because somehow we have been misled into thinking that where we begin, why we begin, and how we begin do not matter as long as reach our goal. I recently watched an interview with Will Smith, where he said, ‘ he grew up with certain things and in a certain neighborhood so he worked his hardest to ensure that he had all he lacked. But when he achieved it, he was still unhappy, because he had not been healed, he was still a broken child only now with more money and more stuff.
He liked some of the will set out this year, this decade with good intentions, good ideas, and impressive goals. But if we don’t work on the present, if we don’t consider this moment, if we don’t figure out who we are and where we are now, we too will find ourselves with footprints in circles unable to realize new because we never realized now. After all, what a tragedy it would be to achieve all that we set out to, just to realize we weren’t meant to carry it. For new wine burst old wineskin, new cloths weigh down and ripthe old cloth. The only way to avoid such tragedy is now, to be known.
So transparensister, who are you now? where are you now? How did I get here? Why did I stay here? When did I get here? Let’s take some time in prayer to ask these questions. because the answers to these questions will position you in the direction of your God-given purpose. It starts now, as everything new always does.
